New Cooking School in Grand Rapids

Back in February (’16), Sur La Table, the national retailer of kitchen and cooking supplies announced they were coming to Grand Rapids. Construction of their new store and cooking school began almost immediately in the new Breton South Village lifestyle center. That same month, the new Fresh Thyme Farmers Market opened in the same development.

Shortly thereafter, I joined them to launch their culinary program and cooking school at the new location.

The Sur La Table in Breton South Village is located at 2488 Burton St SE, Grand Rapids.

  • Hi Tom, Wondering how “hands-on” the classes are compared to those you taught at Bekkins? I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere at the latter, and I think my husband would like that format. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    • We have a LOT of counter space in a commercial style kitchen that allows a very hands-on instruction style. Students do all of the cooking as opposed to just watching a chef demo. It is very different. Stop by and take a look at the kitchen.
